Aloysia triphylla

Aloysia triphylla, in English called lemon verbena, is a deciduous, bushy herbaceous plant with aromatic, gray-green leaves. It blooms from June to August with small lilac hermaphrodite flowers. This plant prefers a position in full sun or light shade and well-drained, not too heavy soil. Aloysia triphylla is moderately hardy and needs extra protection in winter, the plant attracts bees and butterflies and is sea wind tolerant. We can use the fresh leaves of lemon verbena in fruit puddings, ice cream, in dips and vinaigrettes. The herb also fits perfectly in summer drinks.
