Panicum virgatum 'Northwind' is a strongly upright growing grass.

They emerge quite late in the spring with olive green foliage.

Flowering occurs in late summer with fragrant light brown flower tufts that barely protrude above the leaf pile.

In autumn they turn yellowish brown.

They require a moderately dry to moist soil and a sunny, warm place.

Flowering can sometimes be omitted on nutrient-rich soil.

Prune in the spring before sprouting.
