Miscanthus sin. 'Variegatus'

Miscanthus sinensis "Variegatus", also called Chinese beautiful reed, is a medium-sized, deciduous, variegated grass with a bushy, upright shape with broad, linear, light green to medium green leaves with vertical, white stripes. Miscanthus sinensis "Variegatus" blooms from August to October, with brown-red flower panicles at first, turning creamy-white to silvery-white later in autumn when the seed matures. This beautiful reed likes a sunny position and a well-drained, slightly moist, moderately fertile soil. This cultivar is a bit less sturdy than many other varieties and could therefore use some support. Miscanthus sinensis "Variegatus" is hardy and once established, also drought tolerant.
