Miscanthus sin. 'Purpurascens'

Miscanthus 'Purpurascens', also called beautiful cane, is a hybrid of unknown origin. This beautiful reed has a compact upright shape with medium green, slightly drooping leaves with a red hue that turns even more beautiful orange-red in autumn. Miscanthus 'Purpurascens' blooms from July to October, with small, red-hued flowers that slowly turn to creamy white to silver gray once the seed reaches maturity. This beautiful reed likes a sunny position and a well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Miscanthus 'Purpurascens' is hardy and once established, also drought tolerant. It tolerates air pollution and sea wind and is disease and pest free.
