This beautiful reed has a bushy, tall upright shape with linear, mid-green leaves with a white mid-stripe, which turn a fiery red in autumn. Miscanthus sinensis "Malepartus" blooms from August to October, with first silver-pink flower panicles, which turn creamy-white to silver-white later in autumn. This beautiful reed likes a sunny position and a well-drained, slightly moist, moderately fertile soil. Miscanthus sinensis "Malepartus" is hardy and once established, also drought tolerant. It tolerates air pollution and sea wind and is disease and pest free.
