Deschampsia cesp. 'Goldtau'

Deschampsia cespitosa 'Goldtau', in Dutch called rough smele, is a rather small, evergreen grass species with a compact upright growth and pol-forming habit. The dark green leaves are stiff, elongated, leathery and shiny. This smele blooms from June to August with airy, green-yellow flower panicles, which turn a beautiful golden color as soon as the seed matures. Deschampsia cespitosa 'Goldtau' prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and an acid to neutral, well-permeable soil rich in humus. This smele is hardy, tolerates drought, sea breeze and air pollution and is virtually free from diseases or pests.
