Cortaderia selloana

Cortaderia selloana, called pampas grass in Dutch, is an evergreen grass species with an upright, clump-forming habit. The leaves are narrow, drooping, rough to the touch and colored medium green. Cortaderia selloana blooms from August to October with decorative, silky, elongated, creamy-white flower panicles. The plant prefers a sunny position and fertile, drained soil. This pampas grass is reasonably to hardy, but can certainly use some extra winter protection, especially in its young years. This graceful grass is well tolerated by drought, sea breeze and air pollution and is virtually free from diseases or pests.
