Calamagrostis acut. 'Karl Foerster'

Calamagrostis acutiflora "Karl Foerster", also called plume truss cane in Dutch, is a very popular, deciduous compact upright ornamental grass with narrow and stiff gray-green pointed leaves that hang slightly. Plume rattan flowers from June to August with decorative red bronze flower spikes that first turn straw-colored and gold-colored in autumn. Calamagrostis acutifloara "Karl Foerster" prefers a position in full sun and moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil. The plant is hardy, moderate to fairly drought tolerant, sea wind tolerant and also tolerates air pollution well. Plume rattan is suitable for group planting, prairie gardens, low-maintenance gardens, erosion protection, flower arranging, informal garden planting.
