Actaea simpl. 'Pink Spike'

Actaea simplex 'Pink Spike' is even better known by its old name. Cimicifuga simplex 'Pink Spike' or in Dutch as black cohosh. It is a bushy, compact upright perennial with an almost shrub-like appearance with deeply cut, almost fern-like mid-green leaves and long pink flower spikes on long, strong stems. This particularly graceful appearance prefers a position in partial shade to shade and a fresh, fertile, humus-rich and preferably slightly moist soil. It is very hardy, attracts butterflies, bees and bumblebees and is generally free from diseases and pests. This actaea is an enrichment for the border as a solitary or in group planting and can also serve well as a cut flower.
