Sasa tsuboiana

Sasa tsuboiana, also known as coarse-leaved bamboo, is a medium-sized evergreen bamboo with a dense, compact habit that becomes somewhat bendy at a later age. The large and broad leaves are glossy, dark green to blue-green with a striking midrib and stand on thin green culms. Sasa tsuboiana likes a sheltered position in the sun or partial shade and requires moist, but well-drained fertile soil. This bamboo is reasonably to hardy in a southern or western orientation. In contrast to many other species, it can also tolerate a fair amount of drought and is also tolerant to sea wind, which makes it suitable for the coastal region. This plant is generally free from pests and is also resistant to air pollution.
