Thymus serpyllum
Thymus serpyllum is called wild thyme in Dutch. It is an evergreen perennial with a bushy and low habit. The downy leaves are dark green and aromatic. The wild thyme has pink to lilac flowers and blooms from June to August. The plant prefers a position in full sun and a well-drained, not too fertile, reasonably dry soil. Thymus serpyllum can be pruned back in early spring and even after flowering, a light trimming is possible. This plant is hardy, drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution, attracts bees and butterflies and is virtually unaffected by pests or diseases.
