Salvia pratensis

Salvia pratensis is native to much of Europe.

This fragrant, very floriferous perennial flowers with long blue-purple spikes (50-75cm).

It is an upright sage variety with hairy square stems and elongated, serrated leaves.

Thrives in ordinary soil, even poor and quite calcareous, but above all well drained. This plant will tolerate some drought once it is well established.

It dislikes heavy and soggy soils in winter, which can affect winter hardiness.

After the 1st flowering, the plant may be pruned back, it will flower again.
