They first bloom reddish and then turn lilac and pink.

They like partial to full shade and a humus-rich but always moist soil in the sun.

It is a good ground cover that spreads slowly by means of rhizomes.

Sensitive to mildew, especially after flowering, just cut it off completely and green and healthy leaves will quickly reappear.
