Iris sibirica

Iris sibirica is a high upright, pol-forming and rhizomatous perennial. The narrow, elongated leaves are sword-shaped and colored blue-green. This beardless iris blooms in June and July with violet-blue, iris-like flowers with a white halo. Iris sibirica likes a position in full sun or partial shade and does well in any moderately moist soil. This iris is hardy and tolerates wet feet well, it also tolerates sea breeze and air pollution quite well. On the other hand, it can fall prey to the iris drill caterpillar or occasionally suffer from botrytis and rhizome rot (root rot).
