Albizia julibrissin
Albizia julibrissin is a broad tree with spreading, almost horizontally growing branches. The bark is dark gray and the young branches are olive green, but later turn dark gray. The large leaf can grow up to 40 cm in length. It is doubly pinnate and made up of 4 to 11 yokes each with 15 to 28 pairs of small, sickle-shaped leaflets with a finely rimmed margin. The whole looks like a fern leaf and is very decorative. In the evening the leaves fold up. The flowers are clustered together in dense heads on long stems and stand out because of the purple-pink stamens that can grow up to 3 cm in length. The pods grow up to 15 cm in length and rarely open. Commonly planted in countries around the Mediterranean. Requires shelter in severe winters.
