Aucuba jap. 'Variegata'
Aucuba japonica 'Variegata' is the most common aucuba species. It is a female, evergreen variegated ornamental shrub with a bushy habit. The large glossy, leathery and smooth-edged leaves are green colored and yellow mottled. This female aucuba flowers in April and May with small purple flowers. If a male aucuba is nearby, small red berries will follow after fertilization. This plant likes a position in partial shade or shade and an acid or neutral, well-drained soil. It is hardy, drought tolerant and tolerates sea wind and air pollution.

Bos vine is a wild clematis that grows on calcareous soil. The forest vine has greenish stems and twigs. Climbing stems grow three to 6 m in all directions every year. Hedera algeriensis 'Gloire de Marengo', called ivy in Dutch, is a large, evergreen shrub that can be used as a climber or ground cover. It has large grey-green, oval to triangular leaves with a creamy white margin and small fragrant yellow-green flowers in pendulous racemes. After flowering, which lasts from September to December, small blue-black berries follow. Hedera algeriensis 'Gloire de Marengo' does well in full sun, partial shade or even shade. The plant is undemanding to soil, and notwithstanding the fact that this is actually a houseplant, it is fairly hardy.
