Syringa vulg. 'Kath. Havemeyer'
Syringa vulgaris "Katherine Havemeyer" is a medium-sized, deciduous lilac with a bushy, wide upright habit. This cultivar won in 1922 is about 3 m high and wide after 10 years. The leaves are deeply heart-shaped, smooth-edged and medium green in color. The double flowers are lilac purple, strongly scented and are grouped in large upright panicles. This lilac likes a position in full sun and needs a minimum of 5 to 6 hours of sun to bloom profusely. As a soil type, it prefers neutral or calcareous soil. Syringa vulgaris "Katherine Havemeyer" is hardy, tolerates sea wind and air pollution.
