Phyllostachys aurea is called golden bamboo or giant bamboo in Dutch. It is a large, evergreen bamboo with a vigorous, columnar habit. The leaves are linear, lanceolate, colored light green. They grow on sturdy, upright, olive-green to green-yellow culms that can grow up to 4 cm in diameter. This bamboo prefers a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade and a moisture-retaining, but well-permeable, humus-rich soil. Phyllostachys aurea is reasonably to hardy, but only moderately drought tolerant. It tolerates mild sea breezes and air pollution and is virtually unaffected by diseases or vermin.

Nymphaea "gonnère" is a beautiful double water lily for medium to large ponds. The large, round leaves are bronze colored at first, later they change to medium green.
