A garden can be utilitarian in nature, a vegetable garden, scientific, a botanical garden, allotment garden or a decorative ornamental garden. A white ground covering bulbous plant with a strong onion / garlic scent but a softer taste.
The plants have only 2 leaves and can be confused with the lily of the valley, which smells clearly of garlic (beware lily of the valley is poisonous).
The best time to harvest is early May for flowering, when the plants have the most aroma. Then the plant disappears underground, only to emerge again in March the next year.
Needs a moist shady spot but still does well in full sun.
Let the leaves die, because this bulb uses up its food reserves.
Only use fresh leaves, with vegetables, potatoes, salads, soft cheese, gratins, soups, risotto.
