Iris setosa, called bushy iris in English, is an upright, pol-forming and rhizomatous, evergreen, perennial plant. The leaves are long, narrow, lanceolate and medium green in color. This beardless iris blooms in May and June with fragrant, purple-blue, orris-like flowers with pendulous petals and a light white mark near the center of the flower. Cortaderia selloana 'Pumila', in Dutch called dwarf pampas grass, is an evergreen grass species with a compact, clump-forming habit and therefore suitable for the small (city) garden.
