Equisetum japonicum, called Holpijp in Dutch, is an aquatic plant originating from Asia. The plant is characterized by the unbranched, upright, attractive-looking, leafless, green hollow stems with a bamboo-like look and black rings. The habit of the Japanese hollow pipe is upright, pol-forming, this plant spreads smoothly in width via rhizome. Equisetum japonicum likes a sheltered position in full sun, is ph flexible, and does well in any fertile, wet to moist soil. The plant can also be planted under water from 40 to 50 cm. Equisetum japonicum is very hardy, tolerant to sea wind, is also resistant to disease and has few pests. Japanese hole punch is tolerant to air pollution and as a helophyte it has a good water purifying effect.

Aucuba japonica 'Variegata' is the most common aucuba species. It is a female, evergreen variegated ornamental shrub with a bushy habit. Thymus vulgaris 'Compactus' is called real thyme in Dutch. It is an evergreen perennial with a bushy and low habit. The downy leaves are dark green and aromatic. Real thyme flowers from June to August with lots of pink to lilac flowers. The plant prefers a position in full sun and a well-drained, not too fertile, reasonably dry soil. Thymus vulgaris 'Compactus' can be pruned back in early spring and even light trimming is possible after flowering. Rhododendron 'Percy Wiseman' is a medium-sized, evergreen, rhodo with an upright bushy shape. The leaves are glossy, lanceolate, dark green in color.
